Filming Diary Entry - Tuesday 26th November 2013

Audience Feedback

On Tuesday, I started to edit all of the footage filmed together for my rough cut. I was given around an hour and a half to edit as much footage as I could in order to get feedback from my peers. Looking at my piece so far, they said:

  • Cuts work well (the first section is very nice).
  • Lip-syncs matched the lyrics of the song.
  • Quirkiness works, very humorous.
  • Needs a more clearer reference to 'Forrest Gump': Facial hair/getting older.
  • Zoom in on the 'Cinema' bit or change the picture.
  • Band name on 'Cinema'.

Filming

Today I filmed, which is deemed to be the intro to my piece, myself putting on some sunglasses, which can be seen prominently on the green screen sections of the filming (See Friday 22nd November). I used a close-up to promote self-image of the artist. The reason for filming at nighttime is because of the brightness of lights present at night. The light is shown focused on me, showing that I'm the star of the show and the audience can get an idea of who I am.

Finally, on this day, I filmed a close-up of the movement of the hand, pointing to the beat of the song, wearing a white glove. The reason for this was because the 'white' is best noticed in dark conditions (here, I was filming at night) and with a black glove, it would look dull and not very visible at all. I found this out when first filming this scene when wearing a black glove. This technique appeared with poor results, so I swapped the colour of my glove for a brighter, more visible colour. This worked really well, as shown above.
