Filming Diary Entry - Friday 29th November 2013

Today, I filmed the intertextual reference of the opening sequence for 'Billy Elliot'. For this intertextual reference, I was aiming to re-create the part from 0:42 onwards.
However, the location was changed for my music video. Instead of filming inside, I decided to film outside because of the height of the feeling from the floor in my bedroom. If I jumped up really high, I would bang my head!

So instead, I used my back garden as the location for the scene. I used a trampoline to jump up on and I wanted the shot to be the same/look similar to the one portrayed in this movie.

I had to make sure the shots included were similar or the same to what was included in 'Billy Elliot', so above, I constructed a medium close-up shot of the actor jumping up and down on the trampoline. As this was a static shot, there were no problems at all filming this shot. For editing, I will make this shot go in slow-motion as shown in the clip for 'Billy Elliot'. In this way, it adds similarity to 'Billy Elliot' and the intertextuality of the clip can be understood because of the recognisable opening sequence of the film enjoyed by millions of people worldwide.

The other shot that was included was the wide/long shot. Although this was a static shot, as the shot above, I found stuff difficult to film the shot. I wanted this shot to be perfect, so I made sure I did not get in the prop that I was jumping on, otherwise it would put off the performance, as in 'Billy Elliot' the prop wasn't seen. This took a while, but I finally got it in the end, after around 5 takes.

This was all of the shots filmed today. The next day was the last day of filming!
